Rebuilding Together Dutchess County and Town of Wappinger Looking For Homeowners in Need To Provide Home Improvements

Rebuilding Together Dutchess County provides critical repairs, accessibility modifications and energy efficiency improvements for low-income homeowners, including seniors, persons living with disability, families with children and active or retired members of the armed services. These services are provided at no cost to the homeowner. Our services ensure that qualified low-income homeowners live independently in warm, safe, healthy, and dry homes. We also rehabilitate properties that house qualifying non-profit organizations serving our community. The impact of our efforts extends beyond the individual families and nonprofit organizations we serve, as our work revitalizes and stabilizes vulnerable neighborhoods and communities across Dutchess County.

Rebuilding Day Program – Our flagship program that provides large-scale home repairs necessary to maintain a safe and healthy living environment, including, but not limited to: major accessibility modifications (ramps, stair lifts, bathroom, kitchen, hallway, etc.); plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical system repairs; stair, roof, porch and other critical structural repairs. *Please note that mobile homes are only eligible for accessibility ramps through this service.

Handyman Repair Program – A service which provides timely small-scale repairs and safety and accessibility modifications. These repairs can typically be completed in four hours or less and include repairs such as grab bars, hand rails, improved lighting, minor accessibility modifications, and fire safety installations. *Please note that mobile homes are only eligible for fire safety installations through this program.

Home Safety and Fire Prevention Program – In partnership with the American Red Cross, this program engages volunteers to install 10-year lithium ion battery smoke and CO alarms, fire extinguishers, reflective house numbers, motion-activated solar lights and LED light bulbs at no cost to income-eligible homeowners, and educates the homeowners about fire prevention, preparedness, and safety.
