About the Project

The New York Department of Transportation has begun work on a $5.8 million project to construct a modern roundabout at the triangular intersection of Route 376, New Hackensack Road and All Angels Hill Road in the New Hackensack hamlet of the Town of Wappinger.

The reconfiguration will feature streetscaping, landscaping, pedestrian crosswalks, decorative lighting, and a pocket park; all designed to smooth flow and enhance safety at the heavily trafficked location near the Hudson Valley Regional Airport.

Wappinger Town Supervisor Richard L. Thurston said of the construction, “Not only will the project remediate a major congestion point in the town, but it will also help the town to address new residential and commercial opportunities in the New Hackensack hamlet.”

NYS – DOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said, “Building back better starts with the needs of our local communities and this project, along with the recent announcement of the expansion of operational support buildings at nearby Hudson Valley Regional Airport, are great examples of the smart transportation infrastructure investments Gov. Hochul and the department are making across New York State.”

Dutchess County Legislators Lisa Paoloni (District 14) and Joseph D. Cavaccini (District 15) jointly stated, “Our New Hackensack hamlet is being greatly improved by this redesign of Route 376, All Angels Hill, and New Hackensack roads. Reducing traffic and enhancing the character of our town with this new ‘hamlet center’ will certainly enhance the quality of life for the people of the Town of Wappinger.”

Wappinger Town Fourth Ward Councilman Al Casella said, “I hope the New York State solution will resolve the traffic and safety issues we see at the intersections on New Hackensack Road / Route 376 / All Angels Hill Road. We all want what’s best for the Town. I urge residents to learn about roundabout etiquette.”
