Wappinger Town Board Proclaims May as Mental Health Awareness Month in the Town of Wappinger

Supervisor Richard L. Thurston and the Wappinger Town Board are proud to recognize May as Mental Health Awareness Month. The Town Board will formalize this recognition during their Monday, May 9, 2022 Regular Meeting.

The Town of Wappinger calls upon citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses, and schools in Wappinger to recommit our community to increasing awareness and understanding of mental health, the steps our citizens can take to protect their mental health, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people with mental health conditions.

The Town is proud to also partner with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) during the month of May to place white ribbons throughout the Wappinger Town Hall campus, Roy C. Ketcham High School, the downtown historic district of the Village of Wappingers Falls, as well as other significant locations throughout the Town to further the stop the stigma campaign.
