01/31 – S'More Fest - NEW DATE - Friday, January 31, 2025 from 6-8PM at Schlathaus Park
We invite you to our Wappinger150 Kickoff event and join Supervisor Cavaccini, Town Board Members, The Parks and Recreation Department, Family & Friends for S'More Fest! There will be a s'more bar, bonfire, fire pits, hot chocolate bar, popcorn, music, fun, and games. Also please preview our S'More Menu featured in the images below!

Showcase Spotlight at Town Hall
For the entire upcoming month of February, the Wappinger Historical Society will be displaying a spotlight on Dahlia flowers and its rich history in Wappinger at the Wappinger Town Hall. Did you know that Wappinger used to be the Dahlia Capital of the World? It’s true! Stop by to learn more.

02/12 – Local History Trivia Contest with Grinnell Library
Join Supervisor Cavaccini at this fun-for-all-ages trivia night! It will feature Supervisor Cavaccini asking questions about our Town and its local history. It will be held at Grinnell Library in the Village of Wappingers Falls from 6pm-7pm.

02/13 – Community Craft Night
Join us in this family friendly event to create your own Valentine’s Day cards! Registration is required. More information can be found on our Recreation Page.

02/14 – Renewal of the Vows
Join us on Valentines Day at the Town of Wappinger Town Hall, where Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini will perform the Town’s first-ever, resident-wide Renewal of the Vows Ceremony! We will also offer couples to be wed on this day, with ordinations done by Supervisor Cavaccini. This event is FREE , click HERE to RSVP TODAY!

For the entire month of February, the Wappinger Historical Society will be displaying a spotlight on Dahlia flowers and its rich history in Wappinger at the Wappinger Town Hall. Did you know that Wappinger used to be the Dahlia Capital of the World? It’s true! Stop by to learn more.


March


3/1 – St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Come one, come all! Join us in the Village of Wappingers Falls for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade! Wappinger150 will have its own float, commemorating years pasts beginning with the 1870’s. It is also First Saturday in Wappingers, so local businesses will host a variety of specials and activities for all ages. The parade is set to begin at 1pm!

3/7 – March Mingle
All Angels Montessori will be hosting a March Mingle event from 5:30-7:30pm to offer the chance for you to make valuable connections in the area! Stop by to find out more about the preschool and connect with fellow Wappinger business residents! This event will be held at the school at 229 All Angels Hill Rd, and does require an RSVP. 3/13 – Community Craft Night
Join us at the Wappinger Town Hall Senior Center for our next Community Crafting Event. This month we will be crafting Irish Coffee Mugs! This event starts at 6pm and the cost is 8$ per person. Registration is required, you may sign up HERE or call 845-297-0720 during our business hours for help with questions and more information!

4/05 – Veteran’s 5K
Come run, jog, or walk for Veterans! This 5K will be held at the VanWyck Trailhead of the Dutchess County Rail Trail starting at 8AM. This event is FREE and will require prior registration. Sign up Here!

4/05 – Egg Hunt
The Town of Wappinger and the Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Robinson Lane Park! Registration is required, please see WappingerRecreation.com for more information and sign ups.

4/07 – Elect a Town Su"PAW"visor
Calling all dog lovers! Enter for a chance to be elected Town of Wappinger Su"paw"visor and show off your furry friend's best shot! Whether they're playful, posed, or downright adorable, we want to see your pup shine! Winner will be announced at Community Day on May 17th. Photo Submission ends April 25th at 4PM. Voting begins 5/1 through 5/12. Email photo submission to ksterk@townofwappingerny.gov

04/26 – First Annual Tuber Swap
After getting the town cleaned up for Earth Day, join us for our first-ever Tuber Swap! A Dahlia tuber is an underground structure that stores nutrients and can sprout from various points. Absorb plenty of Dahlia tips and tricks at this event and even take home your own Dahlia tuber to plant in your yard! This event is co-hosted by the Wappingers Historical Society and Carnwath Community Farming. More information may be found by contacting dahlias.in.tow@gmail.com

DATE CHANGE to 4/27 – Wappinger’s Earth Day Cleanup - Sign up Here!
The Town of Wappinger and the Parks & Recreation Department are hosting its annual Earth Day Cleanup for Earth Day! The event consists of cleaning up our parks and roads around Town from 10am-2pm. Trash bags, gloves, t-shirts, and safety vests will be provided. If you are interested in volunteering, you may sign up at the link above!

For the entire month of April, Wappinger Little League will be displaying a spotlight on the League’s initiatives and embrace its rich history at the Wappinger Town Hall. It will also feature positive impacts and accomplishments achieved by Little League and will continue to achieve. Stop by to check it out and learn more about signing up!

5/3 – Sports Museum of Dutchess County Opening Day
Meet the legendary athletes of Dutchess County through engaging exhibits that showcase their remarkable careers, the history and impact ofeach sport in the region, and fascinating artifacts that bring their stories to life. Join the Sports Museum of Dutchess County (SMDC) for the 2025 opening day celebration and dedication of the Patsy “Pat” Zerbe Exhibit honoring women in sports. 5/10 – Dahlia Planting & Care Workshop

5/17 - Community Day
Bring the whole family to The Town of Wappinger’s annual Community Day at Brexel-Shlathaus Park! We will be hosting a variety of local vendors, games and activities, a parade, and ending the night with a bright display of fireworks! We will also hold the grand opening and ribbon cutting of our new live performance stage, with multiple bands taking center stage! More details TBA.

5/17 - Paint Blast at Grinell Library
Starting at 2:00 - 3:00 PM, celebrating the Festival of the Arts

05/20 – Reenactment of Town Incorporation
Join us on the Town of Wappinger’s anniversary of its incorporation! The Town of Wappinger was officially created from the Town of Fishkill on May 20th, 1875, at the original Town Hall on Mill Street in the Village of Wappingers Falls, which is where we will host this reenactment. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event!

05/20 – Local History Trivia Contest at Grinell Library
6:00pm-7:00pm - For Adults of All Ages

Dedication of Martz Field
We will be cutting the ribbon at Martz Field to officially open and dedicate the memorial built, honoring Major Daniel Martz, who the field is named after. Date TBA.

Opening of Trailhead at Reese Park
Supervisor Cavaccini will hold the official ribbon-cutting and dedication, honoring the Reese family, of the newly built trailhead at the Reese Park entrance on Route 9D in the Village of Wappingers Falls. More information TBA

In honor of the Town of Wappinger’s 150th year as a town, we are bringing back this summertime favorite for the kids around town! This is your child’s chance to get out and about around town, and put eyes on areas that residents may not have known about before! This will also be a learning experience, as each place they visit has some Wappinger history rooted in the grounds. Sign up online before June 20th, 2025. Come one, come all! This community event is fun for all ages, so bring the whole family! 🐕‍🦺 The festival will be held from 12:00PM-6:00PM at Mesier Park in the Village of Wappingers Falls and will be celebrating Wappinger’s 150th birthday year!

Hosted by the Wappinger Historical Society, the Spirit of Meiser Gala will honor Kristin Catalano & County Players of Wappingers, along with the celebration of Wappinger150! It will be held at the Wappinger Historic Boathouse, located at 105 Market St, Village of Wappingers Falls from 6pm-9pm.

For the entire month of June, BluePath Service Dogs will be taking over our showcase! BluePath dogs are “purpose-bred” from their own breeding program or through partner organizations. These special dogs possess superior health and temperament that will give them the best chance to be successful service dogs for children and families. Stop in to learn more about them!

09/05 - Reflections in Art: 150 Years of Legacy - Art Show
This event will take place at The Boathouse, 105 Market Street from 1:00PM-7:00PM. This event features work from local artists. The show will highlight landscapes, portraits, and other subjects, all captured through the unique perspectives of Wappinger Residents. Expect a diverse range of mediums and styles, from oil to acrylic to graphie and mixed media, showcasing the creativity and talent of the community.

09/06 - Grandparents Day Picnic
This family-fun event will take place at Martz Field in Wappinger from 12:00PM-2:00PM and is free to attend! This event fills up fast and registration is required, click here to register!

9/10 - Community Craft Night- Register Here
For September, we will be crafting Clay Leaves! Event starts at 6pm at the Wappinger Senior Center. Cost per person will be $8 per person and registration is required!

09/11 – Anniversary of 9/11 Ceremony
The Town of Wappinger will recognize the Anniversary of 9/11 by conducting the annual September 11th Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, September 11th at 8:30am at the Sergeant Mark C. Palmateer 9/11 Memorial Park, located on the corner of Route 9, Old Hopewell Road and Sgt. Palmateer Way.

The Sgt. Mark C. Palmateer 9/11 Memorial Park serves as a memorial for Sgt. Mark C. Palmateer, the first Dutchess County soldier killed in the line of duty in the War on Terror, as well as all the service members and first responders who lost their lives on and since September 11, 2001.

It will showcase the history of the multiple schools around our Town, with a special feature of the Red School House that was located off Route 9D between the Town of Wappinger and the Town of Beacon.

10/18 – 12PM - Wicked Wappingers
The Village of Wappingers Falls Recreation Department is so excited to invite you to this year's Halloween festival and parade: Wicked Wappingers. It will be a day of spooky celebration at the Village of Wappingers Falls. We'll be kicking off the festivities right after the parade at Mesier Park where there will be: Trunk or Treat, a devilish DJ, frighful food, venomous vendors, pumpkin patch and goulish games. 10/19 – 11AM-4PM - FALL FESTIVAL & PUMPKIN PAINTING

10/25 – 1PM-3PM - Trunk or Treat
The Town of Wappinger and Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat at Brexel-Schlathaus Park from 1pm-3pm! Golden Pumpkins will be awarded to kids ages 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-13 for cutest, funniest, scariest, and most original costumes. Also, we will have an award for best family, so make sure everyone joins in on the fun! This event is FREE and does require registration for children and those who would like to volunteer to decorate their car trunk.Learn More Here

10/30 – 2-4PM - Trick or Treat at the Town Hall
Bring the little ones and the whole family! We will be offering door-to-(office)door Trick or Treating at the Wappinger Town Hall! Dress up in your best costume and collect as much candy as your bag can fit! This event will be held from 2pm-5pm at 20 Middlebush Rd, Wappinger Falls NY 12590.

10/31 – Senior Center Halloween Party
Calling all our seniors! Join the Wappinger Senior Center and our Recreation team as they hold their annual Halloween Party! A variety of games, food, and music will be available starting at 11:30am. Come dressed in your best costume for a chance to win a prize too! This event sells out quickly so RSVP your spot on WappingerReactration.com or stop by our Senior Center today!

11/08 – Fall Craft Fair
The Town of Wappinger and the Wappinger Recreation team will be hosting our annual Fall Craft Fair on Saturday, November 8th from 10am-3pm at the Town Hall! We will be hosting a variety of vendors who offer hand crafted items such as scarves, jewelry, soaps, candles, and much more! 12/05 – Annual Tree Lighting
Join us for our annual celebration where we light the Town tree at Brexel-Schlathaus Park! This year, we will be hosting a Parade of Lights! Get your car, trucks, and/or trailers decorated in your best lights and join the parade! We will also have hot chocolate and cookies, crafts and games for the little ones, and a visit from our Jolly friend Santa! Gift bags will also be available for the first 300 kids who visit Santa! This is a FREE event; registration is only required for those driving/marching in the Parade of Lights. Please see WappingerRecreation.com for sign-up info.

12/13-12/14 – Light Up Wappinger
Do you decorate your house or business every year? This is your chance to show it off to the community! Register for our 2nd Annual Light Up Wappinger event where residents all around Town will be able to view your masterwork! There will be 4 categories for the public to vote on, and each winning candidate will win a sweet prize! Please see WappingerRecreation.com for more information and registration details.

12/31 – Wappinger150 Time Capsule Ceremony - December 31, 2025 at 1:50pm, Schlathaus Park
We’ve spent an entire year Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Great Town of Wappinger! We invite you to join Town Supervisor, Joseph D. Cavaccini, Town Clerk Joseph P. Paoloni, The Town Board, and the Parks & Recreation Department for the FINAL event of the Year as we seal up the Wappinger150 Time Capsule. This Time Capsule is to be opened 100 Years from now! Don’t miss this Once in a Lifetime Historic Event!
