Town of Wappinger Parks

Wappinger has a total area of 28.5 square miles. Bordering the majestic Hudson River to the west, the scenic Wappinger Creek to the north, and the Sprout Creek to the east. We hope you’ll discover the special joy of being a part of Wappinger— whether you are visiting, made this your home, or considering becoming a part of our community. Our magnificent natural resources are yours to enjoy. From the shores along the Hudson to the rolling hills along the rail trail— the land for hiking and biking and a wide variety of pleasurable dining experiences and shops to tempt your fancies and treat the senses.

The Town of Wappinger maintains over 1,000 acres of land for recreation and environmental protection. You can hike through acres of natural and native wildlife along the Hunter Creek ridge at Reese Park Town Nature Preserve or hit a home run at William “Big Guy” Farrell Fields at our Robinson Lane Baseball Complex. Residents can launch their vessel on the Hudson River from our Chelsea Boat Launch or sit high above the valley and experience breathtaking views from Carnwath Farms Historic Site & Park. Paddle-boarding and kayaking are favorite pastimes along the lower Wappinger Creek and Lake. Our Parks & Recreation Department offers a number of programs and events annually for our residents. At Martz Field Recreation Facility our ever-growing and popular Summer Camp attracts children from around Wappinger to enjoy the sun and be with friends. Come spend your Thursday nights, June – August, out at Brexel-Schlathaus Park listening to local bands perform during our Wappinger Summer Concert Series and starting in August ang going into Fall is our Wappinger Movies in the park series. Then head over every Friday, from late June – August, to Mesier Park in downtown Wappingers Falls for the Mesier Summer Concert series

During the month of July, the Town of Wappinger takes part in National Parks & Recreation Month in which our Parks & Recreation Department has planned fun summertime activities for the entire month of July! Wappinger Community Day a day filled with action-packed fun and excitement for the whole family with a parade, amusement rides, live music, over a dozen different food trucks, craft, and art vendors, and fireworks!

Catching the Fall foliage is definitely something you do not want to miss in Wappinger! From the bluffs along the Hudson River to the rolling hills of the farms; the vibrant burning colors of the leaves at the peak of the season will have you in awe. Stop by the orchards in Myers Corners to pick your own apples where the scent of pumpkin spice fills the air! Go trick or treating Halloween night in one of our community patrolled neighborhoods or try our “trunk or treating” at Schlathaus Park during our Town’s Halloween event.

Wappinger turns into a winter wonderland upon the first snow fall. Ice skating, sleigh riding, and simply building a snow man creates many special family memories throughout Town. Drive around Town watching the twinkling lights on the homes of your neighbors or watch the tree lighting at Schlathaus or Mesier parks.
