Wappinger NY, – The Town of Wappinger has announced their partnership with Helpsy to offer a free and easy home pickup clothing recycling service for the local community.

The Town has partnered with Helpsy to provide free home pickup service and make it as easy as possible for residents to responsibly dispose of their unwanted clothing. Home pickups save the Town of Wappinger money on disposal fees and save the planet resources by keeping clothes out of the trash.

Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini said, “We are excited to begin this partnership with Helpsy so that we may combine our efforts to keep unwanted textiles from filling our local landfills. Through decisive action by this Administration, we implemented a comprehensive Recycling Center Efficiency Plan that fundamentally changed the business model of the facility.

By eliminating a costly third-party vendor, investing in a Town-owned roll-off truck to process refuse in-house, and pursuing new vendor partnerships that now pay the Town for refuse, we significantly reduced losses while keeping the Recycling Center affordable for our residents. We expanded services at no additional cost by accepting electronic waste such as televisions and computers, freon, and clothing, and through our partnership with Helpsy, residents with a Recycling Center permit can now have clothing picked up directly from their homes at no cost.

These actions have made the Recycling Center more efficient, more sustainable, and more responsive to the needs of our community—ensuring long-term affordability for Wappinger residents.”
