Wappinger Town Board Approves Much Needed Street Lighting at Dangerous Shamrock Hills Drive and Old Hopewell Road Corner

***Supervisor Richard L. Thurston, Councilman Christopher Phillips, and Wappinger Town Board Approve Much Needed Street Lighting at Dangerous Shamrock Hills Drive and Old Hopewell Road Corner***

During the January 11, 2021 Re-Organization Meeting of the Wappinger Town Board, Resolution 2021-30 was unanimously approved to authorize Central Hudson to erect two street lights at the dangerous intersection where Shamrock Hills Drive meets Old Hopewell Road.

Supervisor Thurston and 3rd Ward Councilman Phillips advocated on behalf of the residents of the Old Hopewell Estates neighborhood to illuminate the crest of the hill on Old Hopewell Road where many serious vehicular accidents have occurred. With the installation of these two lights, motorists and pedestrians will be able to safely navigate through the night through this stretch of town.

These improvements come together with Dutchess County’s current rehabilitation project of Old Hopewell Road, in which the Town has been working with County DPW and County Legislators Joseph D. Cavaccini and Lisa Paoloni on the reconstruction of this roadway.
