
Town of Wappinger Honors Elite Spartans at Town Hall Ahead of National Tournament
Wappingers Falls, NY – January 28, 2026 — The Town of Wappinger proudly honored the Wappinger United Soccer Club Elite Spartans during a special recognition ceremony held last night at Town Hall, celebrating their outstanding achievements and national qualification. Today, the team departs for Mesa, Arizona, where they will compete in the 2026 US Youth Soccer National Winter Invitational.
The Elite Spartans earned their place at the national level through an exceptional season. The team is currently ranked 20th in the New York East region and has recorded 23 wins over the past year. Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field continue to make them a source of pride for the Town of Wappinger.
In recognition of their accomplishments, Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini declared January 28, 2026, as “National Elite Spartans Day” in the Town of Wappinger.”
“We are incredibly proud of these young athletes and everything they have accomplished,” said Joseph D. Cavaccini. “Their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship truly represent the spirit of Wappinger. We wish them the very best as they head to Arizona to take on the nation’s top teams.
The Town Board, including Christopher Phillips, Al Casella, and Heather O’Dell, joined Joseph D. Cavaccini in honoring the team and celebrating their success.
As the Elite Spartans step onto the national stage, they carry with them the full support and pride of their hometown. The Town of Wappinger congratulates the team and wishes them continued success in Mesa, Arizona.
