Town of Wappinger Annual Flag Burning Ceremony – Flag Day, June 14th – Schlathaus Park starting at 6:30pm

On Flag day, June 14th, we invite you to the Town of Wappinger Annual Flag Burning Ceremony. This is where we burn any old, torn, ruffled, or soiled flags, which have been left at our flag retirement deposit box at the front entrance of town hall throughout the past year.

Flags of cotton material will be burned during the ceremony at Schlathaus park, near the area where we have the bonfire for community day. Flags made of rayon, nylon, and other synthetic materials are brought to the burn center in Poughkeepsie, after the ceremony to be properly disposed of.

The Ceremony Starts at 6:30pm. If you would like to bring flags to the town hall deposit box you are welcome to do so and they can be donated at any time in front of the main entry way doors.
