The Town of Wappinger Building Department will close at noon on Wednesday, July 8th and reopen Thursday, July 9th at 8:30 am.

As we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s history, the Town of Wappinger proudly honored the enduring principles of freedom and democracy.

Wappinger, NY — Saturday, July 4, 2026, Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini welcomed all to our Town’s first Reading of the Declaration of Independence ceremony which began with Wappinger resident Brendan Sohan’s moving performance of the National Anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by New York State Assemblyman Anil Beephan. Town Clerk Joseph Paoloni shared historical context, reflecting on the significance of our nation’s founding and the enduring ideals that continue to unite us. We were also joined by Town Councilwoman Heather O’Dell, Dutchess County Legislator Kevin Giles, and Fishkill Town Clerk Cooper M. Leatherwood.

Town Supervisor Cavaccini commemorated the occasion with a reading of the Declaration of Independence, honoring the courage, vision, and sacrifices that shaped our country.
