Power Outage Safety Tips

Storm Update (7:30pm 3/14/23) –

  1. Storm Forecast remains as earlier noted. Precipitation ending around 8pm. Although winds up to 40mph are of concern.
  2. Traffic light at the corner of Old Hopewell Road  and All Angels Hill Rd is not working.
  3. State of General Emergency through tomorrow -8am. TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS WILL LIFT AT 8PM TONIGHT.
    Driving conditions are fair but drive with caution.
  4. Tomorrow County Offices will open at normal hours.
  5. Town Offices will open at 10:00am 3/15.

WINTER STORM WARNING for DUTCHESS COUNTY

Based on the latest information obtained through communication with the National Weather Service.

 

 

The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8am tomorrow.  

 

Snow is expected to continue with rain mixing in after 2pm. Rain and snow will continue and is expected to taper off by 9pm. Additional accumulation of 3-5 inches expected.

 

Total accumulations of 8 to 12 inches are expected.

 

Winds will pick up this evening and tonight with wind gusts of up to 36 mph possible.

 

Wednesday will see sunny skies with wind gusts of up to 26 mph possible.

 

As expected, heavy snow is bringing down trees, branches and power lines resulting in power outages.

 

As of 9:45am, Central Hudson is reporting 11,257 outages, with the most in Hyde Park (2,078), Town of Poughkeepsie (1,737), and Union Vale (1,167).

As of 9:45am, NYSEG is reporting 2,391 outages, with the most in Beekman (1,712).

DRY ICE distribution – We expect to have information on dry ice distribution by noon. Central Hudson is working on identifying locations in Dutchess County. We expect NYSEG to provide information very soon as well. Individuals traveling to locations for dry ice will be exempted from the travel restriction.

The Dutchess County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will remain open throughout today and will continue to be staffed through tonight. Central Hudson and NYSEG reps are present virtually in the EOC and our staff is assisting the 911 center with making notifications to each utility.  

The County State of Emergency and Travel Restriction remain in effect. Please encourage residents to stay off the roadways as all public roadways in Dutchess County are restricted to emergency and essential personnel.

 

The County Executive will host a Municipal Conference Call at 2:30pm to provide the latest information and address any further unmet needs.  A calendar invite will be sent momentarily.


3/13/23 – After monitoring the upcoming winter storm, Dutchess County along with the Governor have declared a state of emergency beginning tonight at 8pm.

With a Winter Storm Warning in affect, the Town Hall will be CLOSED tomorrow – Tuesday, March 14th.

The Following Meetings are Canceled:

  • Zoning Board of Appeals (3/14)
  • Fire Prevention Bureau (3/14)
