***Wappinger Town and New York State COVID-19 Restrictions Lift as State Reaches 70% Vaccination Rate***

On  June 15, 2021, NYS Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that state-mandated COVID restrictions on commercial and social settings will be lifted effective immediately.

Those commercial and social settings include the following: sports and recreation, construction, manufacturing, trade, child care, camps, food services, offices, real estate, buildings, agriculture, fishing, forestry, amusement and family entertainment, personal care services, gyms, retail, malls, movie theaters, and other commercial settings.

 

According to the Governor’s Office, “Unvaccinated individuals are responsible for maintaining social distancing of six feet and wearing a mask, per CDC Guidance. Large-Scale Events Venues, Pre-K to 12 Schools, Public Transit, Homeless Shelters, Correctional Facilities, Nursing Homes and Health Care Settings will be exempt and will still adhere to the State’s existing COVID-19 Health Protocols.”

The response to our google survey was outstanding and as a result, we will again host a first dose Pfizer Pop Up Clinic next Wednesday May 19, 2021 at Wappingers Junior High School. For those that do register, your second dose of the Pfizer vaccination will be provided on Wednesday June 9, 2021 same time and location as your first dose.

Dutchess County Weekly Vaccine Update

April 19, 2021

Vaccination progress continues with 44% of Dutchess County residents having received at least one vaccine dose and nearly 30% having completed their vaccine series.

Appointments are available this week – read below for details.

Dutchess County DBCH Allocation

This week, Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health (DBCH) is slated to receive 3,500 doses of Moderna vaccine from New York State.

Fixed PODs

We will be vaccinating those ages 18 and older this week at our JCPenney Point of Dispensing (POD) site by appointment only.

Dutchess County Public Transit (DCPT) provides free transportation to County’s fixed POD sites. Passengers simply need to show their appointment confirmation to the bus driver. Call (845) 473-8424 for more information.

Community Pop-ups

We will also be hosting pop-up vaccination sites at Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling with Moderna vaccine this week. Pop-up sites are also by appointment only. County representatives are notifying individuals from our notification list who live in the surrounding area about available appointments. Other pop-up sites are currently on hold as we await updated guidance about the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Partner Pop-ups

We continue to partner with area primary care providers to vaccinate homebound and medically frail senior citizens as well as all other eligible individuals to create vaccine availability throughout our community. We are also partnering with Dutchess Community College next week to help vaccinate students and staff.

Eligibility Updates

All individuals age 16 and older are now eligible to be vaccinated.

*PLEASE NOTE: ONLY the Pfizer vaccine is approved for 16- and 17-year-olds. We do not currently have doses of the Pfizer brand. Pfizer vaccines are generally available at State-run mass vaccination sites. Visit the State’s website for appointments.

We have not yet received allocation information for other area vaccine providers New York State this week.

Appointments are available at the various NYS mass vaccination centers, which include SUNY Orange in Middletown and the Ulster County Fairgrounds in New Paltz. To register for appointments at the State sites, visit the State’s “Am I Eligible?” website.

Vaccine Update

This week, Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health (DBCH) is slated to receive 2,600 doses of Moderna and 1,000 Johnson and Johnson vaccine from New York State. We will be vaccinating those age 18 and older, including individuals with health conditions, and essential workers at our JCPenney and Dover Point of Dispensing (POD) sites by appointment only.

We will also host a pop-up vaccination site in Hyde Park on Wednesday, April 7th. These pop-up sites are also by appointment only. Additional pop-up sites are planned for Arlington, Poughkeepsie, Millerton, Union Vale, and Pawling in the coming weeks.

We also continue to partner with area primary care providers to vaccinate homebound and medically frail senior citizens and those who are otherwise eligible.

Travel Guidance Update

Starting April 1, domestic travelers are no longer required to quarantine after entering New York from another U.S. State or U.S. Territory. While no longer required, the NYS Department of Health still recommends quarantine after domestic travel as an added precaution. Mandatory quarantine remains in effect for international travelers. All travelers must continue to fill out the Traveler Health Form. Individuals should continue strict adherence to all safety guidelines to stop the spread—wearing masks, socially distancing and avoiding gatherings.

In response to County Executive Molinaro/our Elected Officials’ continued advocacy for more vaccine, Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health (DBCH) will receive a significant increase in vaccine this week – just over 4,000 doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine.

They will be vaccinating those over 65 years old, individuals with health conditions, and essential workers at our JCPenney and Dover Point of Dispensing (POD) sites by appointment only.

Eligible individuals will be randomly selected for this week’s appointments via a computer-generated process from the current list of more than 44,000 people who have completed the Dutchess County Vaccination Information Request Form OR in coordination with essential worker employers.

Additionally, we are partnering with some of the area’s largest healthcare providers – Caremount Medical, Premiere Medical Group, and Sun River Health – to vaccinate homebound and medically frail senior citizens.
