Martz Field Recreation Facility is a large complex that is spread over Pye Lane and Montfort Road. The portion on Montfort Road has two tennis courts, beach volleyball courts as well as the maintenance facilities and offices of the Department of Buildings & Grounds. The other half of the park on Pye Lane has additional tennis courts, pickleball courts, a six hoop full regulation basketball court, baseball field, playground, a large pavilion, and bathhouse. All of these facilities are open to the public, and are also seasonally used by the Town of Wappinger Summer Camp program. The Department of Parks & Recreation also regularly hosts various pop up community events here as well. The namesake of this facility is Major Daniel Martz, a father who was the first Dutchess County soldier to die in the Vietnam War, the Town of Wappinger maintains a monument in memory of Martz and all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam conflict.
