Schlathaus Park Improvement Project

As a part of our Wappinger Parkland Improvement Act, the Town has taken significant strides in improving our parks and making decades old ideas become a reality. At Brexel-Schlathaus Park, our Buildings and Grounds Department tore down a decaying structure on the property, restriped the parking lot, as well as re-constructed the ADA accessible ramp going to the Community Center there, these efforts have eliminated significant safety concerns for visitors to the Park.

Our Highway Department has also completed in-house work at Schlathaus Park by installing nearly 400 feet of new drainage pipes, saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. These efforts will let the property drain properly and actually be utilized rather than allowing the 40 year old existing swamp like conditions to continue.
