***A Message from Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini Regarding Recent Scam Alert in the Town of Wappinger***

Dear Residents and Business Owners,

It has come to our attention that individuals posing as representatives of the Town of Wappinger Planning and Zoning Departments have attempted to defraud members of our community through a phishing scam. These scammers are using false email addresses and impersonating Town officials in an effort to deceive recipients into wire transferring money under the false pretense of being added to a Planning Board agenda.

Let me be clear: The Town of Wappinger will never request wire transfers or online payments in exchange for placement on any Planning, Zoning, or Town Board agenda.

All official Town of Wappinger communications are conducted using secure email addresses ending in .gov. If you receive a message that appears suspicious or is requesting personal or financial information, do not respond and do not send money. Instead, please verify the source immediately by contacting Wappinger Town Hall directly at (845) 297-2744.

Our Town is working closely with the proper authorities to investigate these incidents and to protect our residents and business community. Your vigilance and cooperation are critical in helping us stop these fraudulent activities.
