Wappinger Town to Host “Pet Pawlooza” on Saturday, May 8 at Brexel-Schlathaus Park

Today at Town Hall we were treated to a mini preview of our upcoming Pet Pawlooza on Saturday, May 8, 10am-2pm at Schlathaus Park. Jill from C.A.R.E. of DC brought in puppies Sandy and Sugar for a photo op with us and Penny from the Dutchess County SPCA brought in her own Lucy, too. Town Hall staff got to have a little pet therapy petting and snuggling with these adorable pooches. Please plan to stop by our Pawlooza on May 8 (rain date May 9), as there will be six shelters/rescues on hand – some with animals in attendance and others with photos of adoptable animals. We’ll see you at Schlathaus Park!

The Recreation Department will be hosting it’s first-ever Pet Pawlooza on Saturday, May 8 from 10am-2pm at Schlathaus Park, 126 All Angels Hill Road.

There will be area animal shelters/rescues with pets for adoption, the DC Sheriff K9 unit will be on hand for a meet & greet, and craft and pet-related vendors will be on hand as well. We’ll have a food vendor, and a DJ and Town of Wappinger residents can get their dog licensed, too.

The Dutchess County SPCA, in conjunction with the County’s Department of Community and Behavioral Health, will not only have adoptable pets with them, but will also be giving free rabies vaccines to pets that have appointments.

To get an appointment for your pet, you have to pre-register with the SPCA at: http://dcspca.org.

You may have your pet microchipped, too, for $25.00. We ask everyone who attends to bring pet foods for donation – there will be a collection box for you to bring your donated (unopened) foods. The rain date will be Sunday, May 9 – hopefully, we won’t need it! So, please plan to come out to the park and perhaps find the next (furry) addition to your family.
