Wappinger Town Lowers Flags to Half Staff in Memory of New Hackensack Fire District Commissioner Roderick MacLeod

The Town of Wappinger is saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of New Hackensack Fire District Commissioner Roderick Macleod. Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini has directed flags at the Memorial Plaza in front of Wappinger Town Hall to be lowered to half staff. Commissioner Macleod, served the Town of Wappinger served our community for 51 years, dedicating his life to protecting and saving others.

“The epitome of an active firefighter, Roderick went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to keeping our neighbors safe. As a dedicated volunteer for over five decades, Commissioner Macleod, will not only be remembered for his remarkable bravery, but also his service to and commitment to the leadership of our fire service. In addition to serving on the Board of Fire Commissioners, Roderick was a top responder in 2023, making 303 emergency calls as well as serving as District legal counsel to many fire agencies throughout Dutchess County, guiding them forward through difficult challenges.
