On Sunday, April 18, 2021 the people of the Town of Wappinger gathered at the northern boundary of our Town on Route 9 to officially dedicate this major thoroughfare as the “Wappinger Veterans Memorial Highway”.

Supervisor Richard L. Thurston, Senior Councilman William H. Beale, Councilwoman Angela Bettina, Councilman Christopher Phillips, Councilman Al Casella, NYS Senator Sue Serino, Dutchess County Legislator Joseph D. Cavaccini, Village of Wappingers Falls Mayor Rick Cerino, Village of Wappingers Falls Justice Raymond C. Chase Jr., Village of Wappingers Falls Trustee Anne Ponte-Beahan, Village of Wappingers Falls Clerk John Karge, and Deputy Town Supervisor Kevin Hathorn joined dozens of veterans and community members for the ceremony and unveiling of the sign.

The Town of Wappinger thanks all those who supported our first “Wappinger Heroes Weekend” and hope all those who travel along Route 9 will remember those who have served our great nation.
