Town Supervisor Cavaccini Celebrates 100 Days in Office, Looks Forward to State of the Town Address

Wappinger, NY – April 10, 2024, not only marks Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini’s one hundredth day in office, but also the anniversary of when he started in public service over a decade ago. 

The Town of Wappinger State of the Town Address will be held on April 23, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Lower Wappinger Creek Boathouse on Market Street in the Village of Wappingers Falls. The address will mark the culmination of the first 100 days of Supervisor Cavaccini’s administration, the significant accomplishments of the Town Board, and outlining future plans for the Town of Wappinger.

Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini said, “In working with our amazing team, we have been able to accomplish significant milestones and change the philosophy of our local government in our first 100 days. I am excited to share with you a comprehensive look into the state of our Town.” 

Highlights include:

Land Use and Planning: The launch of the Wappinger Protection Act, adoption of historic legislation to protect the quality of life through a moratorium on large-scale multi-family housing developments, and initiatives to support farmland preservation and agricultural programs.

Accountability and Efficiency: Measures to ensure fiscal prudence, including internal audits and investigations, utilization of American Rescue Plan funds, implementation of new software for seamless communication across departments, and streamlining of departmental processes to save hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

Parks and Recreation: Expansion of the Wappinger Town public parks system, infrastructure improvements, and partnerships to enhance recreational opportunities for residents.

Community Collaboration: Strengthening relationships with local organizations, fostering community engagement, and recognizing the contributions of residents to the town’s rich history and vibrant community life.

Public Safety: Implementation of the Safe Streets Initiative, collaboration with law enforcement agencies to enhance public safety, and improvements to emergency medical services.

Supervisor Cavaccini expressed gratitude for the support and dedication of town employees, the Town Board, all elected officials, and community members throughout the first 100 days of his administration. He emphasized the shared commitment to building a thriving community that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of all residents.
